Providing Critical Infrastructure for the Progressive Movement
Per their mission, the State Democratic Parties are responsible for supporting the election of Democrats up and down the ballot — everyone from city council and school board candidates to United States Senate and President. Historically, state parties have provided resources and support to as many candidates as possible in the form of data, as well as messaging, voter turnout, digital, and overall campaign strategy consultation from a small group of staffers. However, due to resource limitations, State Parties are unable to provide support to the scope necessary to uplift every candidate.
Campaign Brain’s unique design — engineered to provide individualized service at-scale to local campaigns — allows our movement to reach key, local campaigns, contest every race, and support our movement in all corners of the country. Finally, a counter for our side against Republican momentum.
Currently, several problems exist in achieving success for many of our local candidates. These problems include:
1) Many candidates do not know how to run an effective and winning campaign. Particularly for our first-time local candidates — such as the teacher running for school board post-retirement or the small business owner running for city council — even the basics of running a campaign are not known or familiar.
2) Political consultants are too costly and inaccessible for the majority of candidates. Many political candidates nationwide obtain political campaign advice and guidance from consultants in exchange for a hefty consultant fee. However, for local candidates with smaller budgets, and those candidates running in redder or more rural areas that have few Democratic political consultants, political consultants are too expensive and inaccessible, which holds back our prospects of winning those races.
3) State Party endorsement programs are much smaller than they should be, and can be significantly broadened. Often these endorsement programs support a small fraction of eligible candidates each municipal election cycle, and provide direct support to these candidates in the form of training and consultation. However, thousands of candidates are not provided these resources due to current limitations in staffing. The development of a scalable software will massively enhance the scale at which state parties can support candidates, and build political and electoral support at the local level.
Our solution — building an artificially intelligent campaign management software that can provide daily action items for candidates in an individualized way — optimizes voter targeting, voter contact, fundraising, and content creation in a way that was previously unattainable at scale.
